About the RDBA
Our ultimate goal is to create an economic development plan that assists and energizes businesses and community members while also reaching out for city participation.
Our Voice
The River District Business Alliance (RDBA) began in 1994 when residents and business owners saw mutual problems in the Westside neighborhoods, but held no representation with Salt Lake City. The RDBA recognized that when starting a business in a new neighborhood it is imperative that you get to know your neighbors. Businesses teamed up with residents and community members to have a positive impact along the TRAX project and North Temple Bridge. When Salt Lake City government did not listen to Westside-specific issues, community action was taken.
Salt Lake City now recognizes RDBA as a group that helps organize and get things done, hears ideas and advocates for the Westside community. RDBA joins businesses and neighbors, creating plans to present to the city to develop potential budgets and fundraising ideas.
Opportunity zones continue to open across the Westside and RDBA is looking forward to revitalizing the neighborhood and working on future projects.
Although the group has changed names over the years (Northwest Business Association, Northwest Merchant’s Association, Westside Business Association, River District Business Chamber) it has remained a strong voice for the Westside of Salt Lake City and has shown the great potential that this side of town offers.
River District Business Alliance Boundaries
The River District boundaries cover 2300 North to 2100 South between 400 West to the western border of Salt Lake City. This map highlights many of the Westside’s major neighborhoods.
